Our Story
It started in the 80s, back when framing was more about hanging things on walls than actually protecting them. Dixie had other ideas.
After learning conservation framing in London and bringing those skills back to Auckland, Artmount & Framing Matters was born. Thirty-plus years later, we're still in Auckland, still doing everything in-house, and still genuinely excited about every piece that comes through the door.
We've framed Porsche bonnets, tapa cloths, vintage corkscrew collections, and more degrees than we can count. Nothing surprises us anymore but we still love a challenge.
We think framing is an art form. The right frame doesn't just protect your piece, it finishes it. It's the difference between something sitting in a drawer and something that stops people in their tracks. That's what gets us out of bed in the morning.

Everything at Artmount & Framing Matters is made in-house, in our Eden Terrace workshop. No outsourcing, no cutting corners, no sending your work somewhere else and hoping for the best. When you hand us something precious, it stays with us from the moment you drop it off to the moment you pick it up.
Our workshop is where the craft happens, custom-cut mats, hand-assembled frames, bespoke mounts, and conservation techniques that have been refined over three decades. It's not a production line. Every job is treated as its own project, made to your specifications, by people who genuinely care.
