Bas van Est
Bas van Est is a commercial and fine art photographer who splits his time between New Zealand and the Netherlands. His most recent series is a result of a trip to Qatar, where he discovered another side of the rapidly developing city. His eerie photographs capture the old city crumbling in the face of relentless progress.
Moving between different projects, Van Est has a knack of capturing narratives through his work, which he gives a sense of authenticity and presence. His work has been exhibited internationally and he has featured in Vice and Urbis.

This oasis is in the middle of a deserted and demolished palace. The only thing left standing is the wall surrounding the property and the mosque attached to that wall.

I was told that Dukhan can become quit a busy beach town during weekends and the school Holidays. I visited this beach on a week day when it was completely deserted, apart from the lone ranger that's parked right at the end of the pier in the distance.
